Introduction to Political Law: Campaign Finance, Lobbying Disclosure, and Gift and Ethics Rules for Beginners

Interacting with government officials and candidates is a highly regulated area of the law. This course is the first in a series that will explore the different rules that apply when interacting with candidates. This overview of campaign finance, lobbying disclosure, and gift and ethics rules will explain the framework for political compliance law and provide an introduction. Future courses will dive deeper into these different topics.

1. Understand the parameters of the Federal Election Campaign Act and how to support candidates for federal office 

2. Identify triggers for when lobbying registration and reporting are required and how to complete reports

3. Discuss how to hold events with federal officials and legally provide food and travel
