Sexual Harassment and Impactful Role of Ombuds

The "Still Broken" Study confirmed that sexual harassment continues to be prevalent and unreported in law firms. A growing number of law firms either have ombuds or recommend ombuds to their clients. The South Dakota Supreme Court formed a commission to address the significant concerns they had around sexual harassment while working in the legal profession and recommended the creation of an ombuds position at South Dakota State Bar.

So why are Ombuds frequently turned to as a solution?  Ombuds serve as confidential, impartial, informal, and independent support for employees and other stakeholders to raise concerns. They also provide a pathway through patterns and trends for firms and organizations to address systemic change.
