Vaishali Rao, a partner in Hinshaw & Culbertson’s Chicago office, leads the Regulatory & Compliance practice in Consumer Financial Services. She represents clients in enforcement and supervisory matters brought by federal and state consumer regulators, as well as in compliance matters. Prior to joining Hinshaw, Vaishali spent close to a decade in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, where she managed high stakes fraud investigations and litigation, including over the financial crisis years and on student lending. She worked closely with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and U.S. Department of Education.  Prior to working for the Attorney General, she served as Assistant Counsel to the Speaker in the Illinois House of Representatives, including on the impeachment trial of former Illinois Governor, Rod R. Blagojevich.
