Clients turn to Qian Julie Wang for her gift for storytelling and her talent for bringing the law to life through compelling, cogent narrative. They also seek her out for her rare panoramic insight into the litigation process, gleaned from her unique experience with every stage of litigation—from pre-filing settlement through final appeal—and from her roles on both sides of the “v.” as a zealous advocate; a friend of the court; judicial clerk; public servant; and court-appointed pro bono counsel.
Julie has particular experience with legal malpractice litigation. She had led some of the largest legal malpractice cases in history and has often resolved them quickly and with highly favorable results, even before filing. She also has extensive expertise in appeals: aside from having clerked on two appellate courts, Julie has briefed and argued over 40 civil cases in the New York state appellate courts and in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She has authored two amicus briefs filed before the U.S. Supreme Court, including one filed on behalf of 31 major municipalities.
A first-generation immigrant who grew up in New York’s inner city, Julie is deeply passionate about giving voice to the marginalized. She dedicates her pro bono practice to advancing the rights of immigrants and women. She currently serves on a panel of appellate attorneys selected by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to provide indigent litigants the highest quality representation in cases of the first impression.
Julie graduated from Yale Law School in 2012, and she is an active alumna and mentor for women and minorities in that community. After law school, Julie clerked for Judge Morgan Christen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for Justice Peter Maassen on the Alaska Supreme Court. Julie was also an appellate and commercial litigation associate in the New York and Washington, D.C. offices of a large international law firm. Prior to joining Robins Kaplan, she served as senior counsel in the Appeals Division of New York City’s Office of Corporation Counsel.
