Biography

Natalie Jean-Baptiste joins The Legal Aid Society after nearly a decade in private practice, where she specialized in consumer bankruptcy and student debt relief. Natalie is committed to economic empowerment and advocacy. She has had a lot of success with discharging student debt in bankruptcy, which is notoriously difficult to do. In her new role as Staff Attorney in the Consumer Law Unit, Natalie represents debtors in all five boroughs of New York City in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. She is dedicated to helping low-income New Yorkers resolve their debt problems and get a financial fresh start.

Natalie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University and her J.D. from New York Law School. She is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the recipient of the 2023 Henry J. Sommer Scholarship.
