Biography

Dr. Basi is a licensed attorney, a CPA, and holds a doctor’s degree in Business Economics and Accounting from Indiana University; as well as having completed post graduate study at Stanford University.

Dr. Basi has expertise in the areas of financial accounting, business succession planning, valuations, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, strategic planning, and tax aspects of business decisions for closely held and family businesses. He researches and publishes in these areas.

He has taught at Southern Illinois University, Penn State University, the University of Louisville, Bellarmine University and Syracuse University.  In addition, he has been a guest lecturer at several major universities in the U.S.

Dr. Basi is the founder of and currently the Senior Advisor to The Center for Financial, Legal, and Tax Planning, Inc.

In his career he has been honored with numerous awards and has been listed in Harvard Business School Profiles in Business and Management, an international directory of scholars and their research.  He currently conducts education courses and prepares an examination for individuals annually registering with the Internal Revenue Service as tax return preparers.  Dr. Basi has, and continues to teach for Lawline, The National Law Foundation, and other legal entities offering attorneys throughout the U.S. continuing education courses.

Dr. Basi has been published in “Money Matters”, “The American Journal of Small Business”, “The Journal of Family Law”, “The Journal of Estate Planning”, “The Tax Lawyer”, “Small Business Taxation”, “Taxation for Individuals”, “Taxation for Accountants”, “Taxation for Lawyers”, “The CPA Journal”, and the “Tax Executive”.  He had an article published in “Taxes” and reprinted by the National Judicial College. He has also published many articles in various industry publications.

He is the author, together with his son, Roman Basi, of the monthly “Tax Advisor”, written for closely held businesses in the U.S..  The publication is available to individuals, and is published by associations, companies and trade journals through out the United States.
