Overview
This course will help estate attorneys better understand and navigate the "kaleidoscope" of taxes that can affect an estate and its beneficiaries during the administration process. Attendees will learn about topics such as portability, federal estate tax, state estate tax, inheritance tax, inclusion ratios, generation-skipping transfer tax ("GST"), estate income tax, income in respect of a decedent, and income tax considerations for beneficiaries. This course will give estate attorneys a framework for understanding their obligations and responsibilities and will give them techniques they can use with clients to minimize any potential tax issues arising during the administration.

Identify different taxes that can affect a decedent's estate, and understand how they work
Mitigate each tax identified
Handle planning and administration for taxable estates
Strategize for ongoing estate administration issues when dealing with taxable trusts, mixed inclusion ratio trusts, and the like
