Overview
Often, attorneys think their clients understand something when they do not. Attorneys can feel like they sound like a broken record, explaining the same thing over and over again, thinking the client understood the issue being discussed, only for the client to completely forget or not understand it at all when it comes time for them to take action. This course will help attorneys learn how to better communicate with their clients. In this discussion, Leah Del Percio, President, CEO, and co-founder of Trustate, will discuss communication tools that attorneys can use more regularly to clarify complicated legal techniques. Attendees will also learn why it is so important for clients to understand, and how to go "back to basics" to eliminate any gray areas.
Learning Objectives:
- Communicate more clearly with clients and stakeholders
- Identify why clear communication and informed consent is critical
- Explore communication techniques for lawyers, such as using visual aids, concise language, analogous examples, numeric examples, internal and external memos, and more
