In 2005, Judith Miller spent 85 days in jail for refusing to identify her confidential source to a federal grand jury investigating a government leak naming Valerie Plame as a CIA official. In the ten years since Ms. Miller was in jail, the law surrounding the Reporter’s Privilege has evolved from state to state and jurisdiction to jurisdiction. In this course, attorney Katherine Bolger examines that evolution and provides advices for how to best counsel reporters seeking to protect a source.
