Overview

Perfectionism in the legal sector has always been a problem due to the crushing time pressures, demanding clients, and rampant poor self-care and substance use disorders plaguing practitioners and legal professionals. This "culture of perfectionism" has encouraged maladaptive coping techniques and led younger lawyers to conceal mistakes, oftentimes to the firm and the clients' detriment. This program will explain the phenomenon of perfectionism and provide readily applicable tools to manage its negative impact.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define perfectionism, the wonder of "adaptive" perfectionism and the dangers of maladaptive perfectionism

  2. Tame your inner perfectionist

  3. Explore simple and life-changing tools to manage perfectionistic tendencies
