Overview
The course, presented by Craig Leen and Kathleen Parker, partners and attorneys at K&L Gates, will take a comprehensive look from a legal perspective at achieving pay equity through employer self-audit programs, with a particular focus on developing similarly situated employee groups, identifying pay disparities through quantitative and qualitative techniques, and establishing a pay adjustment plan based on the results of the self-audit. The course will discuss compliance with applicable legal standards, along with best practices to help exceed those standards.
Learning Objectives:

Provide an overview of legal standards established by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Executive Order 11246, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act, and certain state laws as they relate to pay equity, self-auditing programs, and the elimination of pay gaps

Discuss how to design lawful and effective pay equity self-audits, including how to form similarly situated employee groups for analysis, how to determine which quantitative and qualitative techniques to include, and how to identify and address pay disparities

Identify compliance tips and best practices in achieving pay equity, including in setting starting pay, addressing wage compression, determining what factors should impact pay, and preserving attorney-client privilege as to pay equity self-audits
