Overview
Information governance has never been more important to organizations. In light of recent laws curtailing the retention of personal information beyond the point it serves a business purpose, it is critical that organizations are intentional with their information management practices and intersecting data privacy, security, eDiscovery, and AI programs. This program provides legal and practical guidance on how to develop a comprehensive information governance strategy that also touches on those points.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA") and the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), among other laws, create the need to reconsider information management practices in light of data minimization provisions
Identify critical policies and procedures that may assist organizational compliance with legally prescribed minimum record retention periods, and help avoid running afoul of data minimization laws
Prepare a holistic framework for tackling information governance with an eye toward aligning privacy, security, eDiscovery, AI, and management measures
Discuss applicable enforcement actions that highlight regulatory and practical scrutiny of information governance practices
