Overview
This CLE course will provide corporate and in-house counsel with an overview of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks and legal requirements for ESG reporting and disclosure. The program will examine emerging legal and compliance risks, including the SEC proposal to mandate climate-related disclosures, expanding "greenwashing" litigation and risks, and other federal agency initiatives. The course will also discuss compliance controls and procedures and risk management considerations.
Learning Objectives:
Identify climate and ESG criteria and frameworks that companies are voluntarily implementing
Consider how voluntary disclosures implicate existing legal and regulatory requirements
Identify sources of current legal and compliance risk
Prepare participants for coming proposals for mandatory climate and ESG financial and non-financial disclosures
Discuss compliance controls and procedures and risk management
