Anatomy of an Art Claim: A Rembrandt is not a Refrigerator

This course, presented by Jamie K. Baker, Of Counsel at Thompson Coe LLP, will address fundamental concepts for attorneys assisting their clients (whether insureds, third-party administrators, retained experts, or insurers) to resolve property damage claims involving fine art. Refrigerators are fungible items with replacement costs easily ascertained by both insureds and field adjusters. The value of a Rembrandt, or other one-of-a-kind artwork, is not so easily discerned. Fine art claims should be handled by knowledgeable (and qualified) property adjusters with the use of experts as warranted. This course provides attorneys with insight into specialized art industry verbiage, protocols, documentation, and policy provisions relevant to understanding such claims.
