Overview
With the legal industry's loneliness epidemic, mental health crisis, high rates of addiction and suicide, challenges retaining/promoting women, and our industry's abysmal data regarding promoting BIPOC attorneys, there is one easy, pro-social step that can significantly move the needle on them all: curating an inner circle. This program is applicable to all lawyers and legal workplaces, but it is essential for women lawyers, who face a variety of additional obstacles at both the societal and professional levels, as well as internal obstacles that arise as a result of cultural conditioning. These obstacles impact their careers if they are not strategized around.
Note: Many of these challenges, and the lessons advised in this course, are applicable/transferable to lawyers from underrecognized and/or marginalized backgrounds as well. This course was created with a focus on the journey of all women, including BIPOC women, and aims to approach the topic from an intersectional lens.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the strengths and weaknesses of their existing inner circle for women lawyers
Proactively curate an inner circle to positively impact mental health (as the legal industry has abysmal data on lawyer wellness) and the trajectory of their legal career
Prepare to curate an inner circle and reassess the group periodically
