Overview
Thousands of businesses and landlords have been sued for ADA violations. Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applies to nearly all businesses, commercial landlords, commercial tenants and their websites. The basic rule is that "No individual shall be discriminated against on the basis of disability." In this presentation, we explain specifically what the law requires and what business owners and landlords need to know, both about physical accessibility and website accessibility.
In light of this unprecedented crisis and it's far-reaching impact, Mr. Orlick and Mr. Tubis will discuss:
Who does the ADA apply to?
What requirements does the ADA have for physical business locations?
What is the California Unruh Civil Rights Act?
What are the damages and remedies for violations?
What are some common myths about the ADA?
What should defendants do if they've been sued?
What is website accessibility?
What should businesses do today to fix their websites?
Learning Objectives:
Review the basics of Title III of the ADA as it applies to businesses and landlords
Discuss website accessibility requirements under the ADA
